[189] Promote Your Blog

It’s September. The month of my birthday. Fall has begun but I’m reminded of my progress in blogging and how lovely it has been. The only consistency in my life.

A short introduction to your blog for the unacquainted and a post to welcome your new readers would be helpful.

Back to story time

Inspired partly by Stephen King’s resolve to write 2000 words a day and partly by the allure of the night, I started the blog in January 2017. Slowly and steadily my consistency grew and with that my readership grew or as I like to call you guys, my smoke words every day community grew.

Then the blog changed meaning for me. I started to read other blogs more regularly and I watched so many blogs blossom in front of my eyes and so many of them faded into oblivion. The potential of these blogs lost to the self-afflicted excuse of having no time.

Today, I have 1848 followers and counting and to put myself under more pressure, I bought my domain. So now it reads as rahulgaurblog.com without the wordpress.com

This is the season of change. This is the transition phase from summer to winter. With the purchase of the domain, I hope to transform into a full-fledged writer with more consistency and better quality.

I would also like this opportunity to help you guys get discovered by my small community and have a conversation about blogging. I find the personal communication of WordPress to be lacking as there is no mode of personal messaging but only by comments.

So I leave my Instagram link here if anyone has any questions about blogging in general or you want to talk about life or just joke around with me. You’re most welcome. I want the conversation to be a two-way street. I want us to put personalities into our blogs beyond our work, so drop a DM.

    • It took me around 1 and a half year to gain people’s trust of delivering quality writing.

  10. I started my blog way back 2014 but I must admit I wasn’t successful at all, I had too much ups and downs in my life that I just had to drop by read a bit and post once in a while. Now I am back and I’m still in the preparation for a big one, but it feels like I’m starting all over again:(

  16. Hi! I literally just made a blog today, and I’m really glad that I came across this blog. It inspires me to pick upon the story I used to write years ago… I loved writing it, but I feel I only wanted to write the major plot points and I didn’t care so much for the in between.. lol! Anyway, I’m still in the process of browsing your blog, and I feel inspired to write fiction again. I’ve delved more into article writing… not for any one else, just for myself, but I hope in my new blog I can share my journal and all my thoughts in article form here! 🙂

It inspires me to pick upon the story I used to write years ago… I loved writing it, but I feel I only wanted to write the major plot points and I didn’t care so much for the in between.. lol!     I’m a blind person, 35 years old and learning English. My native language is Spanish, so because of this I recently started a blog so I can force to myself to write few lines in English whenever I can. My primary goal is improve English grammar and expressing feelings, thoughts, opinions, daily routine, etc. what ever gets me into English writing.

    I don’t have a specific theme I blog about, but a little of everything – mostly the stuff that goes on in my head, the things I see and sometimes if I find myself in a romantic mood, a poem or a few lines of love.   22. Congratulations on the followers and the domains! It’s something I too aspire to do in the future! I agree about WordPress not having a personal messaging feature. Along with Instagram I suggest it would be nice if you have a Twitter handle as well. Many of the bloggers are active on Twitter including me and my friends on WordPress.

I have a very new blog (born June 30th) that I’m still working out all the kinks with (like how often I post).   31. Happy Birthday! Congratulations on such a successful blog. Thank you for this opportunity. Together with my husband we sold our house, gave away most of our possessions, left our careers and bought a narrowboat (a kind of houseboat) to live in instead in the UK. We then took a year out and went off to India. I am writing a book which is part personal travel diary, part notes on the journey of self realisation. At the moment I post the draft chapters on the blog each week, along with a short travel update and writing update. These posts go up each Friday. On Thursdays I do a Throwback Thursday post, reposting a blog from four years ago, sometimes with a short introduction. I have removed it from my site as it is in the line to make it’s first appearance at the Tata Literature Live 2018. It is a literary fest to be held in Mumbai in November.
