Dementia of lights
Darkness makes it way
I carry my plight wherever
I have been tonight
Premonitions of Cassandra
and my life is clear as the sun
I know every step I have to take
to be able to walk on water
Glaring crescent sun
A brain fog on the way
Something feels amiss
But I forget it anyway
I venture into the sea
I do not know how to swim
Embracing my final dying moments
but I forget it anyway
My eyes open to a miracle
a baffling deja vu
I have been walking on water
Wasn’t I supposed to die today?
Dementia of lights
and my life is clear as the sun
A brain fog on the way
Embracing my final dying moments
Wasn’t I supposed to die today?
I forget it anyway
This is a beautiful image in words and makes dying not seem so scary. The image of the lady at the beach is beautiful, too.:-)
Thank you Priscilla for your kind comment 🖤
And the myth of Cassandra is one of my all-time favorites – I’m imagining that it’s her at the beach 🙂
It’s a painting Vicente Romero but I imagined it would be Cassandra 🙂
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 🙂
Quite apt for yesterday, as a car drove towards me on a head-on!!! They were overtaking two lorries at full speed, and well my body pressed hard on the brakes, as the lorry drivers did too and their horns swore so loud “THERE’S NO ROOM! THERE’S NO ROOM!!” at the stupid driver and it was all so very, very close!!!
Then I parked up and my mind wondered away into something very, very similar to your poem, sort of like:
~ ~ ~ “Have I been walking on water?” ~ ~ ~
~ ~ ~ “Was I supposed to die today?” ~ ~ ~
Oh damn that’s a close encounter. Glad everything is fine.
Thank you, it is, but that I did have to take some time out the next day. To add some humour to the scene, I quote Babs from the film Chicken Run: “All me life flashed before me eyes!” {{{giggles}}}
