I mask a mask of
survival that has
overstayed its welcome like
drizzle after a storm
The mask is a shapeshifter
an excuse spitter, so naturally
it dreads questions that reveal
its truest nature, so I dare ask
What do you fear to admit?
How deep is your survivors’ guilt?
What disappointments do you hide?
What memory do you block through denial?
Does grief stop you from loving again?
Which illusions make you stay the same?
What are the attachments that you can’t let go of?
The answer is the realisation
that the question needs an exploration
into its deepest roots
into the unconscious you
that will come forward in pain or
rain that will subside
and open up a new sky
of your new iridescence life
NaPoWriMo Day 28: Our prompt today (optional, as always), is to write a poem that poses a series of questions. The questions could be a mix of the serious (“What is the meaning of life?”) and humorous (“What’s the deal with cats knocking things off tables?”), the interruptive (“Could you repeat that?”) and the conversational (“Are those peanuts? Can I have some?”). You can choose to answer them – or just let the questions keep building up, creating a poem that asks the reader to come up with their own answer(s).
Let me know if you liked this poem in the comments below!

It’s not that common for people to use words to convey, even rarer to find those whom turn words into beauty. In other words – thank you ! 😅😇

Really means a lot. You might have liked it more because I noticed now that you have written about the Chakras. I tried every question to be an inquiry into one chakra at a time. That’s why you may notice that there are 7 questions as well 🙂

Well said. But for some reason, I love your first stanza. It’s almost like a rap song said in one breath. Now I’m not a rapper, far far from it. But I listen to some rap songs, and when I read that first stanza, in my mind I was rapping it 🙂 But I love the whole poem. Magnificent work.
