A question that tears
the very earth you walk on
Each slight step you took
Towards the deceit of progress
Unwinds as you fall
to the familiar dreaded beginning
where forever dies at its end
When it’s all but a reverie
I cradle you in your peaceful sleep
The lullabies I sing take shape
of nightmares
for insomniacs of reality
Questions seep into dreams
They assume the guise of fears
Hidden secrets come to light
Depth spills on the beach
A kiss ushers an apocalypse
parting the sea devouring ecstacies
A star-crossed catastrophe

“The enigma of progress” – I like that. Your poem is a sad reflection on a mind in anguish and unrest. May turmoil be replaced by tranquility – and distant intimacy by close, compassionate contact !! 🥰✌🏽
