Six hours and a plane
I enter a foreign land
Eyes dance, faceless crowd
(until)
She arrests me in her eyes
I walk in a homeward land

NaPoWriMo prompt day 2 – And now, here is our (optional) prompt for the day! The tanka is an ancient Japanese poetic form. In contemporary English versions, it often takes the shape of a five-line poem with a 5 / 7 / 5 / 7 / 7 syllable-count – kind of like a haiku that decided to keep going.

Happy April 1st! It’s my great-granddaughter’s 4th birthday today. She’s celebrating with our son (her grandpa) & grandma at the Monterey Aquarium. A memorable day to be sure. 👍🏽 that’ll be my Tanka prompt.
