[219] A Different Time

Leaves wander in the air
when you walk past their remains
You pick a broken leaf held by your heel
only to brush it all away
You look up in the sky
Planets fall out of line
The sun sets by this time
hiding you in the darkness
where you belong
in the night

Daybreak waits for you
to shine on some light
but the mist defends all the beings
by hiding you in itself
Clouds fall down on earth
The wind suspends all vision
because it knows that it only
takes one look in your eyes
and everything wrong feels alright

  1. I love how the whole universe seems to bows down to the subject. Do you tend to assign a gender to them, or is ‘subject’ more appropriate? I always seem to write about a girl, but in that case, the speaker is not MY voice. How does it work for you?

    • I think you’ve caught me when you said the “subject” is more appropriate. But as i’m a guy it generally is a woman just for dramatic purposes. How is it not your voice? That’s interesting, can you elaborate on that?

Sorry it took me long to reply to this
