[264] Distortion

It’s not easy to live with discontent
or to watch sunsets with jet lag
or to take hollow flights of fancy thoughts
that come down crashing
when you’re lovelorn

Smoke and memories fade into you
And it begins
a war that you already knew

We perform the dance of not knowing
what we’re thinking about
It’s the age of innocence
and we’re made to wear masks
We’re made to pretend to not know
When we could just pretend to know
what we’re all about and be content with it
and live in each other’s head
without a shadow of a doubt
