[439] Sun Through The Clouds

Endless blue when I think too much ⁣
Feverish fatigue of not knowing it all sets in⁣
So I borrow somebody’s evolved thought to say goodbye blue⁣
⁣
An endless string of pearls is the image of the universe⁣
In hopes of knowing it all, we greed for every thought⁣
forgetting that each pearl holds the reflection of all the infinite pearls ⁣
⁣
So I focus on one thought this time, explore it in my dream⁣
Glitched stream of consciousness, unbridled energy⁣
Seeing reflections of the beginning and the end. All. In. One. Flow.

NaPoWriMo Day 20: Write a sijo. The sijo (Korean 시조, pronounced SHEE-jo) is a traditional three-line Korean poetic form typically exploring cosmological, metaphysical, or pastoral themes. Like the haiku, it has three lines, but the lines are much longer. Typically, they are 14-16 syllables, and optimally each line will consist of two parts – like two sentences, or a sentence of two clauses divided by a comma.

I jumped at the mention of metaphysical and wrote this Sijo. Probably spent the most amount of time I’ve spent on a poem since I wanted every word to be there for a reason. Hope you all like it!

  5. I love it, Rahul. My favorite line is “each pearl holds the reflection of all the infinite pearls”. It reminds me of the concept of fractals. ⁣Wonderful. I enjoyed this prompt, too.

  9. Really good Rahul, certainly made me think. A second thoughtful reading brought out more of the depth for me. Pondering on the vastness of the universe , yet it all being captured in the small detail – Love it. Well done.

  10. I’ve come to know you through your poetry, so when I say that this one is so Rahul-esque, I hope you take that as my best compliment. Gosh. One and the other (like those pearls, a more fitting word for what we are, does not exist!) — we are each other– a reflection of one another.
