In the silence, I finally sensed everyone’s inner lives. Some sit with their thoughts, some write down what they ignore during conversations, some switch places, denying their bodies the gift of stillness, and some meditate on God. Each person is at a different stage in life, yet all face similar battles within themselves.
Silence is the great leveller of humanity’s best and worst. Nothing can remain hidden in it for too long; silence has a way of bringing to light all that we deny.
Some sit silently, almost invisible, while others observe me writing. I write about others because sometimes my silence feels devoid of meaning, thoughts, and warmth. I play games on the grass, breaking a branch in two to throw and hit a wilted leaf ahead. Silence shows the aftermath, as it does not remember those who hit the leaf but exposes all pieces that did not.
My silence compels me to write about you, about me, about the ever-present energy all around, and everything in between. It whispers that sometimes, when we speak a lot, we merely save ourselves from drowning within. Silence whispers paradoxes, and it reveals that I am yet to understand it. So, I stay silent to learn more.
