[274] Let’s Talk About It

I listen to you and go back
to a time where I lived a simpler life
Where your tales of grandeur were
happening in the corner of my eye
You describe all the sins to forget
Morals that you trampled on
Why does it then feel familiar?
Am I seeing what I experienced
more than what I saw before when I lived it?

Recesses of our mind
hold secrets of beginning
Or so they say when they look
up at the darkness
which stares back into our eyes
Every blink a past but you’re
looking at it shine and
my eyes twinkle less when you talk
about the pollution in the sky
as your fingers hold a cigarette
Slow decay of the living
the secret in our eyes

  1. A great poem.
This imagery expresses the hypocrasy that we live. We cry out for climate change in one breath and
live using the things that make the pollution.

my eyes twinkle less when you talk
about the pollution in the sky
as your fingers hold a cigarette
    Slow decay of the living
    the secret in our eyes”
