[309] Broken Compass

Anger and bitterness
no recollection of my arrival here
Almost forgetting the summit
when I’m diving down to the ground
Power corrupts the feet of a prophet
The halo is a chain that makes them levitate
Success only increases the distance
from the making of it all,  it’s just the bracing of the fall
The lie of success becomes too powerful to deny
Thinking that it’s making of a God
but it’s really only the making of a false prophet

Pursuit of perfection
Discrimination of the value of the time
Power is just another illusory level with your
eyes closed as you crush the people to be able to see beyond
That’s why it feels lonely at the top, a dark black night

You don’t relate to people
as people around you
make decisions for you
without you in their sight
Thinking they know you better
to even a waste a second of your life
They think they know you all
in the hope they’ll reach there somehow
They just reach a level where
they can’t see their own stupidity
Not surrounded by the truth they’re eternally right
A myth for the ages and lies to lie on for a lifetime

  1. A powerful poem. So true, it’s a fright, shame though such are times. My favorite bit was this –
Power corrupts the feet of a prophet
The halo is a chain that makes them levitate
    Success only increases the distance
from the making of it all, it’s just the bracing of the fall.
    Well done!
